The Importance of Scheduling Regular Check-Ups

Booking your next hygiene and check up appointment is imperative for the benefit of your oral hygiene. At times it may be difficult to schedule your appointment at the moment of dismissal and request to be reminded in the following months to schedule an appointment. when doing so you are automatically put on a recall or recare list and a staff member will call you to follow up and schedule your hygiene appointment.

It is important to remember that frequent visits to the dentist are a preventative measure to reduce tooth decay and periodontal disease. Dentists usually recommend patients to come back in six months or even sooner since regular dental visits are essential for the maintenance of healthy teeth and gums.

Recalls or recare tracking is a very important system in the dental office since it keeps track of patients who need to have a check-up and hygiene appointment scheduled. By not calling the dental office back and waiting for them to call again in a couple of months you are compromising your dental health. Since in general, we are procrastinators by nature not scheduling your next appointment before leaving the office usually means you will get out of your ideal dental routine. It is better to schedule that three month or six month appointment right away and reschedule it if necessary closer to the actual appointment date.

Many times patients may have caries or gum issues due to neglect of regular hygiene appointments, "it's just a cleaning". In order to prevent this, it is important that you, the patient, take the initiative in booking or returning office calls promptly to schedule your appointments' This will prevent losing track of regular checkups and will ensure healthy gums and prevent plaque buildup.
