My insurance plan says I am covered once every 9 months, can I come more frequently?
Usually this is when you are covered for the preventive recare, including recall exam, scaling and polishing, sometimes it is 6 or 12 months. The majority of plans provide coverage for additional units of scaling and/or root planing that can be used as needed, we can provide you with the procedure codes to check the number of units you have under your particular plan.
Do I have to pay the whole bill or just the part not covered by my insurance?
As the patient you are responsible for the whole bill at the time of treatment. We will EDI (send electronically) your information to the insurance company on your behalf or provide you with a standard dental claim to mail to your insurance.
When should I bring my child for their first visit?
Around age 2 is an excellent time to bring your child in for their "Dental Orientation" appointment and their first dental 'loot' bag. This is an opportunity to introduce your child to the dental office - a ride in the chair on their own or on your lap, a chance for the dentist to look in their mouth and for you to address any concerns you may have. We are happy to discuss your child's diet and nutritional requirements as well as their habits, such as thumb sucking.

Should I whiten my teeth?
Most people feel more confident when their smile is bright. We offer three methods of whitening:
- White strips which are a quick economical way to brighten your smile
- Take home kits – We take impressions and make custom acrylic trays to apply the whitening gel while you sleep or watch television.
- In-office whitening – this procedure takes about 90 minutes and is done here in the office
Any of our staff will be happy to discuss the procedures with you and help you decide which is best for you.
I don’t understand my insurance plan!
It is impossible for us to know the details of every plan, there are more than 30,000 dental plan contracts in Ontario. Your plan should provide you with a booklet or on-line information of your coverage, if you bring this into us we will be more than happy to review it with you and help you decipher the lingo.
Some procedures, such as crowns require that you submit a predetermination complete with x-rays to your plan. This is necessary because even though your plan covers crowns the tooth that requires the crown has to meet the insurance company’s criteria for needing this treatment. By sending the predetermination it lets you know how much you will be out of pocket for this treatment.
